BELL & HOWELL MERIT AWARD

Bell & Howell, Chicago, Illinois                         1940's - 1950's

Impressive and rarely seen, Bell & Howell Authorized Dealer Merit Award, this one given to College Pharmacy, Inc. (location unknown).  These are believed to have been awarded to outstanding dealers in the 1940's and 1950's.  The plaque weighs approximately 4 lbs, 11 oz and appears to be solid bronze.

The plaque replicates Bell and Howell's famous shield logo, found on most of their cameras and equipment since 1911.  The actual manufacturer is unidentified, but a four-digit number is cast into the back with the word "Pattern".  The plaque measures approximately 11 1/4" high and 10 1/4" wide at its widest point.  It is 1/4" thick, with four protruding mounting points on the rear, similar to a pot trivet foot.  These points add about another 3/32" to the plaque's thickness and have threaded holes to permit screw mounting to a wall, desktop or other surface.  Two of these points could also be used to affix a wire, to hang the plaque if desired.

A great piece of Bell & Howell ephemera.
